Forgotten? Or Just Gone?

Hey My Dear Blog Readers:

I hope you haven’t forgotten about me – I realize I have been gone for awhile but I plan to be back and in a BIG way.  I haven’t written much lately but I have been living life on planet Earth so I have much to tell and it’s wanting to come out.

I plan to write some movie reviews in 2015 – some current releases but also some that have been out for awhile that I don’t want you to miss.

I plan to write some book reviews but first I actually have to read some books.  I really do enjoy reading but I lead a pretty active lifestyle so when I sit down to read I tend to fall asleep so it takes me awhile to get through a book.

I plan to write about some songs that move me – songs that speak to my soul and I just want you to know about them.  I will start with Led Zeppelin.

I do plan to write about my workouts in a big way and hopefully I won’t bore you with that but I really do enjoy working out with my F3 Brothers so I want you to know about that.

But mostly I plan to write about LIFE – how my life intersects with my Creator and how that moved me, transformed me, spoke to me.  Writing about my spiritual self helps me to process those encounters and I am hopeful that you can relate because maybe you’ve had a similar encounter.  And whether I am writing about a movie, a song, a workout, a book or about my LIFE – they always relate to my faith in some way – it just happens.

Some of my posts will be long….many will be short.

But one thing will be consistent in all my posts – they will come straight from my heart….because that’s what I do.

I can’t wait to write them and then I can’t wait for you to read them.  And if you are so inclined post a comment – that tells me that my words have actually been read by another soul.  Agree with my words or Disagree with them – and let me know about it.

In closing I doubt that I have been forgotten and I’ve not gone anywhere.  I’ve just been busy living life on planet Earth and I can’t wait to tell you about it!

The Best of Times

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch if incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to heaven, we were all going direct the other way….” – Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities

Welcome to the Year of our Lord 2013, Disciples!

I enjoy this time of the year as it gives me reason to reflect back on the past year while at the same time looking forward to the next.  Now is a good time to remember our achievements, learn from our failures and dream of better times.  I could list all the reasons why 2012 was the best of times and I could also list out all the reasons why 2012 was the worst of times.  But I will spare you that agony.

The year 2012 is in the history books and I am grateful that I am still alive and well and still full of energy…well most of the time anyway!  Spiritually I had some highs and some lows last year and I have blogged on most of them, so if you really want to know, then check out my archives.  But here I am now sitting on the cusp of another year and wondering what I will do with it.

In my prayer time this morning I caught myself going through the usual laundry list of what I wanted God to do for me, my family and my friends today.  And I think they were all good requests and they were mostly NOT for me, so I wasn’t being too selfish.  But as I was closing my prayer time I asked God what He wanted from me today.

“He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.  And what does the Lord require of you?  To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”  — Micah 6:8

So my challenge to myself for 2013 is this:  Seek what God wants requires of me….then go do it!  Everything else will fall into place.  Pains, hurts, regrets, finances, family…it will be good if I am simply an obedient servant of our Lord.  Will you join me?

So I will start off this year seeking justice, loving mercy and trying to walk humbly with my Creator.  I figure that’s a good place to start, thanks to Micah.  And I plan to spend more time in scripture and more time on my knees.  I’m thinking the year 2013 will be the very Best of Times…a season of Light.

Let’s go!
